Detailed description of Timber Ridge Country Club
Timber Ridge Country Club is a Public 18 hole golf course located in Minocqua, Wisconsin.
Timber Ridge golf course first opened for play in 1977. The course was designed by Roger Packard.
Timber Ridge golf course is very scenic and wooded course. Timber Ridge Country Club went public in 1997 after operating as a private club since 1977. Its back nine is more difficult than its front nine. The greens are undulating and fast. Water hazards also come into play on four holes.
Par for the course is 72. From the back tees the course plays to 6,686 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 4,688 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 11, a par-5 that plays to 580 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 13, a par-3 that plays to 139 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 3, a 408 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Timber Ridge Country Club is # 13, the 139 yard par-3. The signature hole is #16, a 170-yard, par 3, requiring a tee shot over a pond to the green.

This is a nice course-- good condition, organized staff, good practice area. One irritation of the layout is the par 5's. As I recall each of the par 5s is designed with an abrupt 90 degree turn in the last 100 yards of the hole-- the quick turn is blocked by woods/ high tree or trees. This design feature seems like a lame trick to protect the hole. I believe long hitters should have an opportunity to make the green in two or a "standard" player has a fair chance to put the ball on in regulation.

I've played this course through GolfNow four times this year, each time for less than $25 with cart. Exceptional value. I like that they have Green tees (4500 yards) so that my wife can reach the par-3's and 4's in regulation. As one reviewer wrote, they didn't like the par-5's because of their dogleg design...and they are partially correct. Two of them are like that, and you need to know where to place your tee-shot or second shot if you want to reach the green in 2 or 3 strokes. But I like that they are not just hit two long shots and you're on. You have to place them, rather the hit them long. Fairways and greens are in great shape. I really enjoy this course. And, it wouldn't be right not to mention the restaurant there. Chef Rene's has great food. He just took over this spring, and I've enjoyed several meals there since then.
